It's our last day in the Tetons, tomorrow we drive to Cody, WY.
Sorry I haven't posted in the last couple of days, but the ATT tower must be down. That's right the one we have to drive 6 miles to get the signal. There is a big fire, (the Red Rock Fire), just over the ridge of the Rockies in Dubois, WY, and it must have taken out the tower.
We've had a great couple of days even without contact, we've seen herds of elk, that Debbie got great shots of, while I sat safely in the car. We've had about 200 or 300 buffaloes on both sides of the road, the herd was crossing from the river to the grasslands. Driving home from Yellowstone yesterday Mom spotted a Grizzly bear drinking from a stream, needless to say Mom wanted to get a picture and by the time we turned around it was gone... Don't worry, I would have stayed safely in the car while Mom got the picture. (No I wouldn't have)
We've seen Moose two more times, once on our 4 hour trip to the grocery store there was a bull moose along side the road and on the way back we saw 2 bull moose across the road from the first one.
We decided to try our luck panning gold again and found a nice stream in the middle of nowhere, (we have pictures), no luck though... too many river rocks.
Yesterday we found an old stage coach trail... at leat it looked just like one in the movies, 2 parallel dust tracks surrounded by miles of prairie. We 4 wheeled for almost 4 miles, (3.7 miles), and it brought us to and woodland path, when got to the end of the path we were right on the Snake River, we decided to come back today to fish. Bad thing though... we watched Anthony Hopkins, Alex Baldwin and Walt from Lost's movie about being lost in Alaska and attacked by Bears...
So much for our fishing adventure 3.7 miles away from anyone, in bear country, so instead we visited Old Faithful again, and had yogurt.
On the way home we spotted a fire on the mountainside across from the south entrance to Yellowstone, when we got to the entrance we reported it to the Ranger, he said that the Lighting storm last night started 5 fires.
Well there are no pictures today, (can't transfer the pictures without the ATT Tower... Darn Red Rock Fire), but tomorrow in Cody we should have service, so we'll send the pictures then.
